As part of this development the department wishes to expand its team of Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) by offering two scholarships to support PhD students in their studies, and provide career development opportunities for those planning an academic career. Anyone intending to apply who has not already applied to the Department?s PhD programme must do so separately before the closing date for these scholarships. Successful candidates will be expected to teach up to 6 hours a week of seminars and tutorials to first-year undergraduates during term-time, to mark student work and assist in monitoring the academic progress of first-year students. Training will be provided. Friday 31st of July in the University of St Andrews philosophy department. Our keynote speaker will be Professor Katherine Hawley, who has widely published on metaphysics, philosophy of science and epistemology. You will have the opportunity to hear and discuss a cross section of undergraduate papers on a variety of topics, selected for their academic excellence and clarity by professional philosophers. The conference is non-profit-making: the cost of registration are as follows: - Day (Thursday or Friday) registration is only 5 UKP - Registration for both days is only 7 UKP - Registration for both days plus accommodation in St Andrews for the night of Thursday the 30th is only 32 UKP If you have any questions regarding registration please email info at bups.org Registration for the conference will be open for day delegates until the day of the conference (subject to capacity), but will close for those seeking accommodation on Wednesday 15th of July or when capacity is reached. Papers should be submitted via email to submit at bups.org and should be prepared for blind review with a separate cover sheet giving name, affiliation, contact details and paper title. The deadline for submission is Monday July 13th at 9pm. Authors who make the short list are expected to be reachable after this date. Submission enquiries should also be sent to info at bups.org.
